presentation introduction Presentation Introduction

Begin your presentation is not necessarily the hardest part, but you can get on the right or the wrong leg, so it is important for a lot of attention to the words you use.

Think about how many people get started:

“Ladies and gentlemen. I am very happy to be here with you today to talk blah blah blah …”

“Hello. Thank you for this wonderful presentation Marilyn. ”

“My name is Frank Johnson, and I am the director of the Western Division. I just want to blah blah blah … date”

If you’re in the public, how you react to one of these? How did you react when you have heard in the past? I know what I always think: “Oh boy, here is a long boring speeches. I wonder what for lunch. ”

Here’s another phrase I hate hearing when someone has a presentation to begin:

“Have you heard the one about …?”

Please please please, do not start your presentation with a joke, especially a generic that they have probably already heard. The jokes are freely available on the Internet or around the water cooler, so you do not hear when you begin your presentation.

“I want to tell a story.”

People love stories, and they are generally willing to take. So if you say you will tell a story and then for some reason did not live up to their expectations, you’ve lost before you start on the main message. If you go to a story, tell the story. For example, consider the following two openings:

1. I want to tell you a story. That was five years ago when I traveled in South America, Brazil really. I happened when the carnival, and I was really looking forward to it. I do not know if you ever go to Brazil, but it is a colorful place and people are friendly. It is also very hot and I like hot weather?

2. It was just after 10 o’clock, the sun is blazing on the crowd of thousands, sitting in the stands waiting waiting. Finally, we hear the distant sound of music and feel the rhythm of thousands of dancing feet from us. We are all better than hundreds of samba bands seen gradually to fill the stadium for us, and then everything turns into a feast of sounds, colors, dance, music, rhythm and pure joy !

Now that the presentation you want to hear? The first speaker takes forever to work, while the second takes the public about the place of action.

It is not difficult to do, but you have to think. Too often, especially in business, people do the old “Hello, thank you for inviting me here” simply because it never occurs to them that there is a better way.

Next time, remember to start your presentation by using your right audience with you in history. You report directly to the presentation and your chances of success will have increased exponentially.
